KARACHI: Man dies as boat capsizes

KARACHI, Sept 5: A member of a fishing club drowned when a boat capsized in the sea near Charna Island on Friday.

Edhi sources said a boat carrying four persons left the Sonara beach for fishing on Friday. As they reached near Charna Island, their boat capsized.

Agha Aziz, chief of the King Fisher Club, Qasim and Mazhar managed to swim to beach, while their fourth companion, Arif, drowned.

The three survivors were taken to hospital by the Edhi volunteers.

ACCIDENTS: A young man died in Soldier Bazar when he was hit by a Suzuki van while crossing the road near a traffic signal.

Inayat, 26, was taken to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police impounded the vehicle and arrested its driver.

In another accident on the Super Highway, a man died when he fell off a truck.

Police said Mohammad Nasir was sitting on the roof of a truck, when he fell off the truck and got crushed under its wheels. He died on the spot.
