KARACHI: Suspect shot dead in ‘encounter’

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 4: A suspected bandit was shot dead in what police claimed an encounter with dacoits in F.B. Area on Thursday.

Police said that two armed men entered a mobile phone shop in Block-13. As they were fleeing on a motorcycle after looting the shop, two policemen patrolling on their motorcycle spotted them.

Police said that the suspects opened fire on the police, and an exchange of fire took place as police returned the fire, critically wounding a bandit who later died on way to the hospital.

His body was shifted to the Abbasi Hospital for postmortem.

However, his other accomplice managed to escape.

Police said that bandits were using a motorcycle (KAV-5850) which was snatched at gunpoint in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday.

KILLED: A night watchman was killed by unknown persons in Korangi on late Wednesday night.

Police said that Malik Awan, a watchman, was on duty at a factory in PNT Colony in Sector 31-B, Korangi, when unknown persons killed him.

The victim was struck with a blunt weapon in his head. His body was found on Friday morning when the morning staff came to the factory.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination, police said. Police suspect personal enmity as possible motive behind the killing.
