KARACHI: Traffic jams at Quidabad chowk

KARACHI, Sept 2: People are facing hardships due to hours- long traffic jams at Quaidabad Chowk daily, owing to the heavy encroachments on both sides of the road.

The areas encroached upon both sides of the National Highway are also causing problems for pedestrians particularly women and children.

The encroachers allegedly used to bribe police for setting up their business at the roadsides. However, TPO Bin Qasim says that he will take immediate action if there is any compliant lodged against police officials.

Thousands of employees working in Bin Qasim industrial area use this road daily and due to traffic jams during peak hours they have to suffer a lot.

Traffic police, who have failed to ensure smooth flow of traffic, attribute the problem to shortage of manpower in traffic police.

Area residents have also appealed to Sindh Governor and City Nazim to look into this matter, which was causing immense problem to the citizens.—PPI
