China in last eight

QUETTA Sept 1: China moved into the quarterfinal of the 25th All Pakistan General Muhammad Musa Gold Cup hockey beating Sui Southern Gas Company 2-1 here on Monday.

POF Wah, Habib Bank and PTCL also joined China into last eight stage of the event to be played on Wednesday.

China scored twice in the first half through Lu Peng in the second minute and Hu Liang in the 25th minutes.

SSGC applied pressure in the second half but Chinese defence held firm and it was only in the closing minutes that Rafi Farooqi converted a penalty corner to reduce the margin.

The clash between Army and KESC ended in a 3-1 victory for the former after leading 3-0 at the half time.

Tuesday fixtures: Balochistan White v Police; Army v Railways; Balochistan Colour v Sui Gas.
