KARACHI: First year admission lists


KARACHI, Sept 1: The Centralized Admission Committee has released the placement lists of students, admitted to the colleges in General Science and Home Economics groups.

Speaking at the press briefing on Monday, City Nazim Naimatullah Khan said that admissions were being given purely on merit and if it was found that any admission had been offered violating rules, strict action would be taken against those involved in the process while admission of the respective student would be cancelled.

According to him, the education department was facing difficulties in recruitment of faculty and other non-teaching staff at the newly established colleges owing to variety of reasons. He conceded that the shortfall in the number of required faculty would persist for at least one year.

Giving details of the admission process, he said that around 84,000 forms were sold through designated branches of Habib Bank Limited, out of which over 72,000 forms were submitted back and efforts were on to place all applicants in colleges.

According to the placement list of General Science group, a total of 613 male students were placed in 14 boys colleges against 660 available seats at these institutions. A total of 441 female students were placed against 450 available seats at eight girls colleges in General Science group.

According to the placement list of Home Economics group, as many as 600 female students were placed at Ra’na Liaquat ali Khan Govt College of Home Economics against all available seats at the college.—PPI
