Fine doubles by Islam, Barani and Moheyuddin
KARACHI, Aug 31: Owner Islamuddin, trainer Mohyuddin and rider M. Barani worked out a most popular double at the Karachi Summer Gymkhana races held here on Sunday at the local turf.
The stable lived upto it’s reputation when their charges, Thousand Up in the opener and Visitor in the fifth race won handsomely after being well backed by the followers of form who had no anxious moments.
Departure On Time, the main rival of Visitor once again failed to run to it’s potential and was in fact nosed out by Snake Eyed in the last stride which once again gave suspicion to his running.
Rajwar, who was ridden by Taj Mohammad won the third race under some serious doubts. It looked a boat race as none of his rivals looked keen.
Taj Mohammad in fact recorded his second win of the current year. In eight months he had one winner and was placed fourth twice. This is ample proof of his riding calibre.
The only rider to suffer punishment was Ashiq Ali who was warned off for his unsatisfactory riding on Sweet Grandy.
The stewards, however, failed to take cognizance of other riders handling of their charges. Ashiq Ali, was made the scapegoat to give the impression that the race was run on merit.
Handling of Fire Of Desire in the concluding event of the day by Sher Mohammad was also suspect as his charge had passed the field some 100 yards from the post but Sher Mohammad instead of caring for his mount tried to disturb the onrushing Charkh Bareen and lost the race by neck.
The next gymkhana races will be held on Saturday Sept 6.
