2 drown in drain

RAWALPINDI, Aug 31: Two persons drowned in a drain in Thalian village on Sunday, police said.

According to the police, Faisal Mehmood, 24, along with his cousin, Adnan Shaukat, went for a picnic in Thalian village on Sunday. On the occasion, Faisal entered the drain to take bath, but drowned after entering deep water.

On hearing Faisal’s screams, Adnan tried to rescue his cousin but he also drowned during the attempt.

The police said the bodies had been fished out of the water and handed over to the victims’ families.

Meanwhile, three station house officers (SHOs) have been transferred to police lines on Sunday, official sources said.

Those transferred were: Inspector Hassan Aziz (New Town), Inspector Ahmed Ali Khan (Pirwadhai) and Inspector Taimoor Khan (City police station).
