ASI, constable suspended for registering wrong FIR

MIANWALI, Aug 31: DPO Dr Shakeel Ahmed Mirza has transferred Paikhel SHO to Police Lines and suspended an ASI and a constable for instituting a fake FIR against an addict.
ASI Dervaish Khan had recovered eight gram hashish from addict Chiragh Iqbal of Swance, but he was booked in a weapon case. The constable arranged a 30-bore pistol which was shown to have been retrieved from the accused. The parents of the addict informed the DPO about it who visited the Paikhel police station and met the accused. The ASI became jittery and registered another case of narcotic against the addict. The Musakhel DSP was deputed to probe the matter who found both the ASI and the constable guilty of charges.
In another incident, the DPO suspended the Kundian SHO for humiliating, abusing and illegally detaining a journalist.
Rana Arif Bashir, correspondent of a daily, used to highlight the poor performance of the local police. Falling into a rage, Kundian SHO Khizar Hayat arrested the journalist and declared him a proclaimed offender. A delegation of Mianwali Press club, headed by Chairman Rana Amjad Iqbal, Secretary Abdur Rashid and other senior members, met the DPO and apprised him of the matter. The DPO again directed the Musakhel DSP to inquire into the matter who held responsible the SHO for abusing his powers.
ARRESTED: The local police on Sunday claimed to have arrested one of the robbers who shot and wounded a senior auditor and also took away his new motorcycle some four days ago.
The police also recovered the snatched motorcycle from the possession of arrested accused Imran Khan of Kot Chandana.
Munawar was on his way home when two motorcyclists shot and injured him and also took away his motorcycle. The father of accused Imran came to the showroom to get the duplicate receipt of the motorcycle. The second robber, identified as Sanaullah, is still at large.
