ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: The teachers of all the public sector schools in the country would be posted at their home districts to save them from mental and physical stress impacting on their performance, announced Education Minister Zubaida Jalal here on Saturday.

“Appointment of teachers in their home districts will also help them concentrate on their students,” the minister observed while speaking at a nine-day teachers training workshop organized by the National Education Foundation, Ministry of Education.

Teaching was a noble profession and the government would provide all necessary facilities to the teachers community, she assured. Ms Jalal also urged the teachers to concentrate and utilise their energies in building the character of their students.

“A child in a school is like a sacred trust in the hands of the teacher,” she said, adding,”This shows the trust and confidence of the parents in particular and the society in general in the teacher.”

She said the government had diverted all its resources to the education sector, which showed its commitment to providing easy and quality education to the citizens.

The education minister told the participants of the workshop that the government was considering a plan to send teachers to the United States or any other country to equip them with modern teaching know-how that would in turn benefit the students.

The minister said the teachers training was an essential part of the government’s Education Sector Reforms (ESR) and added that the National Education Foundation (NEF) was providing quality education through public-private partnership in FATA.

Appreciating the role of the NEF, the minister said the organization had made tremendous efforts for providing sustainable learning opportunities for the disadvantaged groups stretching across the country.

Later the managing director NEF, Dr Afzal Haq, briefed the minister on the progress of the Foundation since its establishment in April 2002.
