KARACHI: Scholarships given to poor students


KARACHI, Aug 30: The advisor to chief minister on local government and special developments, Waseem Akhtar, said that the government was making vigorous efforts for provision of maximum educational facilities to the masses.

Huge funds had been allocated for promotion of education, he said while addressing at the Mora Scholarships distribution ceremony on Saturday. A sum of Rs0.557 million were distributed among 1,200 students of 25 government schools of Karachi at the ceremony.

The advisor said that the provincial government was awarding scholarships to the poor students of government-run schools so that they could buy books and uniforms and continue their studies. If this work would be carried out with honesty it could help eradicate poverty, he added.
