SUKKUR: Breach destroys cotton crop

SUKKUR, Aug 29: A 30-ft-wide breach developed in the Khoro Minor on Friday as a result of which hundreds of acres of standing cotton crop was flooded and destroyed.

The villagers and irrigation staff were jointly able to plug the breach after hectic efforts of eight hours.

LANDLORD KILLED: A landlord, Karam Ali Marfani, of the Mehboob Khoso village, Shikarpur district, was gunned down by a group of armed men on the Jagan link road on Thursday.

An FIR was registered against four men — Gulloo, Deedar, Baboo and Mehoon.

TWO DACOITS HELD: The Shikarpur police arrested two dacoits, Abdul Sattar Mahar and Mureed Hussain, from the Chak town and recovered two Kalashnikovs and two shotguns from their possession on Friday.

Police recovered a huge quantity of stolen goods which were stolen from a school, including desks, fans and blackboards.
