Delhi blames Islamabad for talks failure

NEW DELHI, Aug 28: India said on Thursday that Pakistan’s “negative” attitude was behind the lack of agreement in technical level talks aimed at resuming civil aviation links suspended 20 months ago.

“An agreement could easily have been reached. It is regretted that this did not happen because of Pakistan’s ‘negative approach’ and its attempt to bring in ‘extraneous issues’,” foreign ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in a statement released here.

The talks to lift a 20-month suspension of flights, were seen as crucial in advancing a delicate four-month peace process between the nuclear rivals, who were on the verge of their fourth war last year.—AFP
