KARACHI: Councillors role in anti-polio drive stressed

KARACHI, Aug 28: Nazim, Karachi City District Government, Naimatullah Khan on Thursday called upon councillors, particularly women representatives, to participate in the ongoing efforts to eradicate polio.

Speaking at a training seminar here at the Civic Centre to create awareness among women councillor about the intensity of the disease, the nazim said that efforts to eradicate polio were necessary as Pakistan was still among the very few countries of the world where the polio virus persisted to threaten the well being of the children.

He appreciated efforts of the EDO, health, Dr Ali Nawaz Sheikh in this regard.

Naimatullah Khan expressed the hope that women councillors from Karachi would actively participate in the campaign being launched under the National Immunization Days from Sept 2.—APP
