RAWALPINDI, Aug 27: Relief goods donated by Turkish Red Crescent Society for flood victims were handed over to Pakistani authorities at a simple ceremony held on Wednesday.
A special plane loaded with 8,500 kg of relief goods arrived at Chaklala Air Base.
Turkish ambassador in Pakistan, Mr Kemalgur, the director of Red Crescent Society Logistic, Mr Akinpamer, received the relief consignment and later handed over to the officials of the Cabinet Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan Red Crescent Society.
The Turkish ambassador told reporters that in line with the Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali’s appeal to the international community, the Turkish government had sent a cheque of $100.000 for the flood victims and it would be handed over to the Pakistani authorities as soon as he got an invitation from Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The Turkish ambassador said a charity concert is scheduled to be organized on September 10 in Islamabad to raise funds for the flood victims.
