KARACHI: Coastal areas schools open on Monday

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 27: Students of schools, located in the coastal areas, remained confused till late Wednesday night about the status of their institutions, whether those would remain closed or not on Thursday and onwards, as the education department failed to communicate the issue properly.

Many students of government schools came to know on Wednesday morning that their schools would remain closed. Till Tuesday, the students had no knowledge about closure of their schools, said callers on telephone. They asked for the names of schools, which would remain closed.

When contacted, the PRO to the education minister said, “Both private and public schools, along coastal belt would remain closed till Aug 31.”

The minister had taken this decision on Tuesday, on complaints that students were facing health problems, the PRO added.

He said that the minister had asked the EDO (Schools) to pass on the decision to the concerned quarters properly. However, no official notification was available till filing of this report.
