MOMBASA, Aug 26: Prices of Kenyan tea eased slightly at Tuesday’s auction as cold weather in tea-growing areas led to the production of low quality teas, an official at the African Tea Brokers (ATB) said.
Pakistan and Afghanistan were active but did not pay good prices for the bhanji leaves.
Auction volumes stood at 72,430 packages or 4.68m kg, of which 8.34pc was taken out. Less tea will be offered at next week’s auction due to falling quantities in the farms. A total of 67,144 packages or 4.32 million kg will be on offer.—Reuters
