616 cases pending before courts

ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: Police have failed to submit charge sheets of 616 cases in the district courts of the Islamabad Capital Territory during the past more than seven months.

Whereas according to the law, the police are bound to submit charge sheet in court within 14 days.

The sources said, currently, about 616 cases in 10 police stations of Islamabad were pending before the courts for disposal. But the police have shown apathy in completing the investigation on these cases and failed to present the charge sheets in the courts even after the passage of more than seven months, they added.

Giving a break up of these pending cases, the sources said, at present, about 94 cases of Sihala police station were pending before the courts, 86 of Margalla police station, 67 of Secretariat police station, 71 of Golrra police station, 56 of Kuhsar police station, 55 of Aabpara poolice station, 34 of Barakahu police station, 29 of Tarnol police station, 122 of I-9 police station and four of women police station.
