PESHAWAR, Aug 24: The political administration of the Khyber Agency has been refusing to take action against the Khasadar force who killed an innocent young tribesman at Dogra checkpoint near Bara last year.
Faiz Mohammad alias Qais, a resident of Pesay Baba hamlet on Jamrood-Bara Road, was killed on June 8, 2002, when he was on a visit to Dogra near Bara with two of his relatives, Amin Gul and Shamshad, deceased’s father Abdul Qayyum Afridi told Dawn here on Sunday.
He alleged that the Khasadar force of Dogra checkpoint headed by Jamaluddin opened fire, killing Qais on the spot. They also arrested Shamshad on the allegation that he and the deceased were drunk, he added.
After three days of the incident, the Khasadar force let Shamshad free as they failed to prove the charges, he said. “Who will bring back his son who was killed by the Khasadars due to a misunderstanding,” the retired police havaldar said as tears rolled down his cheeks.
Khyber Agency political administration, he said, appointed the then Fata secretary Dr Ehsanul Haq as inquiry officer with the task to probe into the murder of Qais.
After the investigation, Dr Haq held Khasadar force responsible for the killing of Qais and recommended to the political administration to take stern action against the force, he claimed.
But as yet no action had been taken against Jamaluddin and other Khasadars, he lamented.
He also complained that since the killing of his son, once he met the political administrator on the recommendation of a tribal MNA. But, he added, he was asked to remain tight-lipped and no action was taken against the killers, he added.
He demanded of NWFP Governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah to take action against the Khasadars on the recommendation of inquiry officer report.
