KARACHI: People told to register servants with police

KARACHI, Aug 24: The Sindh police have advised people to register their servants at nearby police stations.

A press statement issued here on Sunday by the police department says it has come to the knowledge of police that most home robberies are committed following information by servants to criminals, and in some cases they are found to be involved in these acts. So two recent passport-size photos of servants along with copies of their national identity cards must be submitted at police stations.

The statement adds that illegal aliens must not be hired.

Following specific instructions by Sindh police chief Syed Kamal Shah, police have launched a campaign to inform people about preemptive and precautionary measures to help prevent crime.

Shopkeepers and office owners have been advised to keep in touch with their neighbours through bulb signs, bells or any other modes enabling them to convey their message of distress.

Flat and bungalow owners must not open their doors or outer gates without confirming the identity of the person calling, and before leaving their homes they must be alert of the possibility of the presence of any suspicious person.

In case of suspicious movement by any stranger, or any other unusual movement, Madadgar-15 should be contacted immediately.

Criminals keep changing their residences regularly, and generally live in rented houses, so house-owners must develop complete files of those who rent their houses or shops with their picture and copies of their national identity cards.—PPI
