KARACHI, Aug 22: Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, on Friday, laid foundation stone of the additional block of Government Elementary College of Education, Qasimabad.
The construction of the additional block will cost Rs7.5 million. The construction work has been taken up for the first time since 1960 in this institution.
On this occasion, the minister said that the government was working for promotion of education on priority basis.
He said that college students would be benefited from the additional block. He said teachers and students with their efforts could make it a model college.
College Principal Nasreen Jafri, in her welcome address, praised the interest showed by the minister towards education and the development process. She said that his interest could be gauged with the fact that when he earlier inspected the dilapidated building of the college, he immediately ordered the officials concerned to assess the necessities of the college for approval.
On her demanded to initiate BEd classes at the college, the minister directed the authorities concerned to look into the matter and give the details of requirements for the introduction of BEd classes at the college.
MPAs Kanwar Naveed Jameel, Moeen Khan and Idrees Siddiqui; Director General PITE, Mehboob Shaikh; EDO Works and Services, Naveed Mirza; and DO Education Saeed Malik were also present.—APP/PPI
