KARACHI, Aug 22: Six ships carrying containers and general commodities are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to delayed arrivals. As a result, three ships Bunga Masempat and Hyundai Advance to unload and load containers and Theano to load naphtha were berthed.

Sailing was also light as only two vessels Al-Mariyah and World Star departed, while Bunga Masempat, Hyundai Advance, Loyalty, Theano, Merch Kandy, Kotan Intan and Global Prosperity are due to sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was, however, maintained on the higher side where a total tonnage of 78,004 tons comprising 26,821 tons of export cargo including 20,800 tons of sugar and 51,183 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Torge-S, PONL Mahe, Sima Bahar, Kota Permas, City of London and Kota Teguh, all with containers.
