HYDERABAD, Aug 21: The Sindh National Party has announced that it will launch a protest campaign against the multinational companies, exploring oil and gas in Sindh, for not recruiting local people.
Speaking at a news conference in Sehwan on Thursday, party chairman Ameer Bhambhro said a sit-in would be staged in front of the British Petroleum which would continue till the provision of jobs to local people by the BPL.
He recalled the company had promised talks on June 14 following Kario Ghanwar SNP’s protest. He said more than two months had passed and the BPL and the district government had not held talks, causing unrest among the people.
He also demanded royalty from various companies exploiting Sindh’s oil and gas.
He supported protest demonstrations being held in Qadirpur, Khairpur, Dadu, Kambar Ali Khan and Matli against non-provision of jobs to local people by the multinational companies.
He advised the multinational companies to respect democratic, legal and constitutional right of local people.
