Govt urged to ensure safety of journalists

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Aug 21: The president of High Court Bar Association (HCBA), Chaudhry Mohammad Tariq, on Thursday asked the government to ensure the safety of journalists and let them highlight the loopholes in the society.

Presiding over a meeting of HCBA executive committee here, Mr Tariq said without the freedom of journalism, the country would never see the dawn of true democracy, supremacy of truth or development of institutions. Digging out truth and reporting facts was not only the duty of journalists but also the basis of a civil society.
