KARACHI: Increase in KU army quota slammed

KARACHI, Aug 20: Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) has slammed the enhancement of the army quota by the vice-chancellor of Karachi University.

In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, the IJT said the decision amounted to the trampling of the rule of merit and was aimed at establishing army rule at the university. The IJT claimed the VC took the decision under duress.

“On one hand the government is closing the doors of KU to talented and hardworking but underprivileged students, and on the other it is enhancing the quota for undeserving persons, showering its blessings on a particular segment of the society”.

Instead the government should allocate more seats for talented people who are facing difficulties in continuing their studies.—PPI
