College closed after clash

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 19: The Government degree college, Loralai, was closed for three days following a clash between two students’ groups in which several people sustained injuries on Monday.

The Pukhtunkhwa Students Organization leaders alleged that supporters of the Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba, who were not students of the college, tried to forcibly suspended the classes to hold a function. When the students refused to attend the function, the outsiders attacked them and injured seven members of the organization, they alleged.

PSO Secretary Dost Mohammad Luni said outsiders had no right to disturb the academic atmosphere in the college. He said the Nazim and other officials had failed to stop the attackers.

IJT representatives, speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, claimed that their organization was holding a reception for students but members of the PSO attempted to sabotage it and injured seven activists of their group.

Representatives of both the organizations demanded immediate opening of the college.

The principal of the college has announced that the college would remain closed for three days.
