ISLAMABAD, Aug 17: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said his government believes in “accommodation in politics” and hoped it would pave the way for building national consensus on vital issues.

Talking to various delegations including public representatives at the Prime Minister’s House on Sunday, Mr Jamali said he considered power as a means of serving masses.

He discussed the local government systems with the public representatives and expressed determination to strengthen it.

He lauded the services of former prime minister Feroz Khan Noon specially with regards to the accession of Gwadar to Pakistan from Oman, which would soon become a hub of economic activities.

The premier said that overseas Pakistanis were a national asset and the government accorded priority to their welfare. He urged them to contribute towards the development of their motherland and make use of investment opportunities in the country.

Mr Jamali also met a UK-based solicitor-advocate of Pakistani origin, Amjad Malik. The lawyer presented a proposal for forming of a group of 50 lawyers, having right to audience in foreign jurisdictions to represent the Pakistani community abroad free of cost, specially in prisons.

The prime minister also met a seven-member delegation from Balochistan, led by Senator Riaz Khan Mandokhel.

Sargodha District Nazim Amjad Ali Noon called on him and proposed establishment of a trauma centre along Lahore-Islamabad Motorway to prevent avoidable deaths in road accidents.

Mr Jamali appreciated the proposal and promised to look into it.
