Over Rs26m yet to be disbursed under FSP

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Aug 17: The post offices in Rawalpindi district have failed to distribute Rs26.1 million of Pakistan Baitul Maal among the beneficiaries of the Food Support Programme (FSP) despite a delay of almost two months owing to the lethargy of the officials concerned, a source told Dawn here on Sunday.

About 26,190 FSP’s beneficiaries including widows, old, ill, orphans, disabled and poor are yet to get the sixth instalment.

Though, the distribution of the amount of the same instalment has been completed in various parts of the country after the Baitul Maal transferred the money to the accounts of all the general post offices, two months back.

But, owing to the dilly dallying of the district post offices in charge and district coordination officer (DCO), the GPO has yet to transfer the amount to the accounts of the beneficiaries, the source added.
