QUETTA, Aug 16: A division bench of Balochistan High Court has granted four weeks to Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, the ex-chief minister of the province, to furnish documents of his assets.

The ex-CM has filed a petition in the BHC challenging the tax notice served on him by the income tax authorities.

The BHC bench, comprising Justice Amanullah Khan Yasinzai and Justice Ahmed Khan Lashari, on Friday adjourned the hearing on the submission of the petitioner’s counsel.

The income tax department had on June 17, 2003, served the notice on Mr Magsi asking him to furnish documents of assets owned by him during the 1996-2003. The petitioner pleaded that he could produce the documents if the government allowed him to visit abroad.

The petitioner’s counsel submitted that Mr Magsi had filed separate petition praying to exclude his name from the Exit Control List (ECL) so that he could visit London to produce the documents related to his assets and the vehicles gifted to him by foreigners.—Correspondent
