KARACHI, Aug 16: The Sindh Education Department has initiated training programme for all the teachers in the province.
This was stated by the Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat while speaking at the Children Resource International (CRI) centre at the PECHS on Saturday.
He pointed out that under the Middle School Project some 500 teachers had been imparted training.
The minister announced that for upgrade of the primary schools to middle level, one or two rooms would be constructed at the shelterless schools, where the youngsters would be imparted education.
For teaching English to the students, two schools, one each for boys and girls, would be set up in every district.
The country director of the CRI, Ms Mahnaz Akbar Aziz, informed the minister that her organization was an NGO and a non-profit body, with its head office in Washington.
She said that the CRI was active in some 28 countries around the world and engaged in enhancing the performance of the teachers, training of the youngsters in initial age, and participation of the teachers in the betterment of the schools.
She stated that the CRI had also come up with books focusing children to help them in acquisition of knowledge.
It was further pointed out that the CRI had so far imparted training to over 28,000 teachers in 27 countries, besides developing class rooms for some 600,000 children.
She stated that under this project, centres had been set up in Orangi and Lyari Town, where youngsters were being imparted education.
It was pointed out that such centres were also being set up in Azam Basti and Manzoor Colony, where technical education would also be imparted to the students.
Mr Marwat assured that the education department would extend its cooperation in this regard.—APP
