ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared 22 private schools illegal for operating in residential areas of the capital and ordered their early removal, a source in the CDA told Dawn.
The source said the authority had started cancelling the allotment of the plots on which these schools had been set up.
The source said the CDA had imposed a ban in 1999 on setting up of schools in residential areas. According to the CDA rules, schools established in the areas before 1999 are considered legal and authorized. The source said the 22 institutions were established in 2003.
The authority has urged parents and guardians of students of these schools to stop sending their children to the institutions and the teachers to avoid teaching in them since these stood closed and ceased to function.
The owners of the schools have been directed not to open the institutions after summer vacations, otherwise punitive action would be taken against them.
