ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday said the government was deliberately delaying holding next round of talks on LFO, and the MMA was considering to give “time frame” to the government for holding of negotiations on LFO.
Talking to newsmen at the NWFP House, Maulana Fazalur Rehman said that some forces, acting from behind the scene, were trying to sabotage the government-MMA talks to give the impression that the politicians were not capable of solving any problem.
Maulana Fazl said the MMA was getting the impression that government was applying “delaying tactics” and time has come when the time frame should be given for holding of talks. He said that the MMA had not yet closed its doors for the talks as it wanted the country to come back on constitutional track.
He said the MMA had offered one-year period to Gen Pervez Musharraf to hold both posts only to bring the constitutional system back on the track, and added that some forces, working from behind the scene, were trying to sabotage the whole process.
Maulana Fazl reacted angrily to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s statement that the MMA leadership was creating hurdles in the way of success of talks, and asked the PML-Q chief to point out what hurdles MMA had erected in the way of agreement on LFO.
The MMA leaders also asked Sheikh Rashid Ahmad to tell the nation what flexibility the government had shown in its talks with the MMA.
