LARKANA, Aug 12: Nawab Shabir Ahmed Chandio, the chief of the Chandio tribe, announcing his verdict on a tribal dispute, has said that he has pardoned the killers of his brother, Nawabzada Ali Nawaz Khan, but barred the Durrani clan of the accused from visiting a certain area in Kachho.

The decision was made at a Jirga of the Chandio tribe held at Chandio House, residence of the Nawab, in Kambar on Tuesday and attended by the heads of different branches of Chandio tribe and 200 others.

After consultation with the tribal elders, the Nawab announced the verdict, saying that the Durrani clan of Shahani sub-tribe of Chandio tribe would not visit the area between the streams of Tunee and Wahandree in Kachho for one year.

He declared that in the future, there should be no fighting between the two parties and if any untoward incident happened, he would stand by the aggrieved party.

The Jirga verdict has released tension in the area, one of the participants told this correspondent.

When contacted, the Nawab said: “ There is no yardstick to measure the degree of damage caused by the murder of the Nawabzada and killing 30 or 50 persons will not be an answer to it.”

He added that the murders of the Nawabzada’a companions, Nandoo Samarani and Saadullah Marfani, had been equalized with the losses caused to the Shahanis but did not explain the nature of losses.

It may be mentioned here that Nawabzada Ali Nawaz Khan Chandio and his two companions were killed in a clash over the possession of a hunted ibex in the Khirthar mountain on May 22.
