By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: Former premier and chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party Benazir Bhutto on Tuesday denounced the killing of a woman and her four daughters in the name of “honour” in Muridke.

In a statement the former prime minister called upon the Musharraf regime on behalf of the Pakistan People’s Party, put to an end the crimes against women, which she said had grown because of the insensitivity to crimes against women.

She recalled that in civilized societies the crimes of passion, which are similar to honour killings, the persons concerned are arrested and prosecuted.

“Under the Musharraf regime, crimes against women were not being taken seriously and as a result of gross negligence of the duties of governance the people of the country were suffering untold miseries”.
