Cordial ties sought with Pakistan: Sonia

ISLAMABAD, Aug 10: The opposition leader in India’s Lok Sabha, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has said that her party has been committed to having cordial and good neighbourly relations with Pakistan.

In her message at the inaugural session of the South Asian Free Media Association conference, she said the Congress was always in favour of a dialogue between the two countries for resolving all contentious issues.

She said the Shimla agreement provides the framework within which the countries could discuss all issues and build a durable friendly relationship.

She said the Congress welcomed the initiative of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to resume talks with Pakistan.—APP
