Jinnah House’s possession sought
ISLAMABAD, Aug 8: Pakistan hopes that India will live up to its commitment to hand over Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s Mumbai residence (Jinnah House) to Pakistan, foreign office spokesman Masood Khan said on Friday.
He expressed this optimism when asked to comment on Indian junior external affairs minister’s statement in the Rajya Sabha refusing handing over of the Jinnah House.
It may be mentioned that Indian leaders had made this commitment on a number of occasions in the past.
Indian Junior External Affairs Minister Digvijay Singh on Thursday told the Rajya Sabha, the Indian parliament’s upper house, the property (Jinnah House) had been renamed the Indian Council of Cultural Relations Mumbai Branch Office.
During the Agra summit, President Musharraf had asked Prime Minister Vajpayee to lease the house to Pakistan.—APP
