CDA to issue list of illegal schools

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to publish a list of private schools functioning in different residential sectors in national dailies for public information.

The decision was made in a meeting held at the CDA headquarters on Wednesday. The authority’s chairman, Chaudhry Abdul Rauf, presided over the meeting.

The CDA will also display notices outside the illegal schools, which will be closed with the help of the district administration.

The Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) officials informed the meeting that the CDA deputy commissioner had forwarded 115 cases to the authority.

The DMA has closed 30 schools after receiving notices from the CDA, they added.

Meanwhile, the administrations of 26 schools have sought exemption from the order as the institutions were established before 1999.

The CDA has decided to regularize nine schools as these were established in accordance with the rules and regulations.

The CDA chairman directed the officers of concerned directorates to demolish all encroachments and dislodge all illegal private schools from different residential areas of the capital.—APP
