Govt urged to solve workers’ problems

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Aug 5: The activists of Pakistan Workers Confederation (PWC) on Tuesday held a protest rally against what they termed government apathy towards their problems.

On the occasion, trade union leaders expressed concern over the labourers’ grievances and highlighted issues like unemployment, poverty, price hike and ban on trade unions.

The workers raised slogans against the government for its failure in solving their problems.

They criticized privatization of state-owned units, closure of industries, feudalism and other exploitative systems prevalent in the country.

Those who took part in the protest included employees of Wapda, PTCL, SNGPL, railways, and different beverages and Ghee corporations.

The protesters demanded end to joblessness and abolition of anti-labour laws. They said the government should ensure raise in salaries, restoration of move over and selection grade facilities and other facilities for the working class. Earlier, the activists participated in a convention organized by the PWC at the Rawalpindi Press Club.
