Friendly ties sought with Afghanistan, says Jamali
ISLAMABAD, Aug 5: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Tuesday that Pakistan wanted to establish and maintain peaceful, brotherly and friendly relations with Afghanistan and other countries of the region.
“Pakistan and Afghanistan are bound together with centuries-old ties of religion and neighbourhood,” Mr Jamali told the ambassador to Kabul, Rustam Shah Mohmand, who called on him at Prime Minister’s secretariat.
The ambassador took guidance from the prime minister for fulfilling his duties and briefed him about various aspects of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.
The prime minister said it was in the interest of both the countries to coexist peacefully and brotherly.
He described the recent meeting of Joint Economic Committee of the countries a step in the right direction and expressed the hope that it would lead to better economic, cultural and social ties between them. He asked the envoy to build the true image of Pakistan as a moderate and progressive country.—APP
