KARACHI: Minister reviews problems of Lyari


KARACHI, Aug 5: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadis and Special Development Mohammad Hussain Khan on Tuesday presided over a meeting to review the steps being taken for the resolution of civic problems in different areas of Lyari Town.

MPA Fareeda Baloch, DCO Karachi Mir Hussain Ali, TMO Lyari Afaq Saeed and senior officials of KESC and KWSB were also present in the meeting which reviewed water supply situation, sewerage system, low voltage, dilapidated conditions of roads and other such problems in various areas of Lyari, including Shah Waliullah Road, Daryabad Fida Hussain Road, Jamia Noorani, Ghousia Masjid and Haji Pir Mohammad Road.

The meeting chalked out a plan for cleaning of sewerage water drains, de-silting of sewerage channels, provision of clean water and draining of stagnant rainwater from roads.

The minister directed the officials concerned to devise an strategy to improve the dilapidated sewerage system in the area and also ordered for the supply of clean water and carpeting of roads destroyed in the recent rains. The minister also asked the KESC officials to upgrade the electricity supply system.

Later, the provincial minister visited different areas of Lyari Town and held an open kutchery which was attended by thousands of people. On the occasion, the minister announced that a 10-member committee would be formed for immediate resolution of the problems. He said the area MPA would coordinate with the committee.—PPI
