KARACHI, Aug 5: Five ships, including Atlantic Forest carrying 7,125 tons of vegetable ghee, are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.
Berthing activity at the wharves remained slow owing to delay in the scheduled arrivals. As a result, three ships, Global Paramount, to unload and load containers, Sondos to offload vehicles and Le Li to offload and load general cargo.
Sailing on the other hand was active as six ships, City of London, Ocean Starlight, Sondos, Pytheas, Faisal and Ocean-1 departed, while Great Creation, Mar Challenger, Kota Wijaya, Nur Yanbu and Mercs Komari are due to sail out on Wednesday.
For the second day in a row, the total tonnage handled was maintained well above 0.1m tons at 0.107m tons, bulk of which about 75,000 tons was contributed by crude oil, highspeed diesel and molasses.
Export tonnage totalled 11,474 tons, including 1,792 tons of rice and import tonnage at 95,830 tons.
The following ships are due on Wednesday: Sima Bahar, Hyundai Sprinter and Kota Tegap, with containers, Sargodha, with 16,500 tons of rock phosphate and Atlantic Forest, with 7,125 tons of vegetable ghee.
