PESHAWAR, Aug 2: The Awami National Party has accused the MMA of abandoning its position on the Legal Framework Order and accepting the amendments incorporated into the Constitution by a military dictator.

Addressing a party meeting here on Saturday, ANP’s central vice-president Haji Muhammad Adeel charged that the six-party religious alliance had gone back on all of its pre-election promises, including its pledge to eliminate interest, enforce Shariah and oppose the LFO.

Mr Adeel said MMA’s internal contradictions, divergent approaches and failure to deliver on its promises were now glaringly visible. This, he went on to claim, reflected the difference of opinion between Qazi Hussain Ahmad and Maulana Fazlur Rahman.

He said the JI and the JUI leaders held different views on the LFO and leanings towards the military rulers.

At the provincial level too, Mr Adeel went on to say, senior minister ran a parallel government to that of Chief Minister Akram Durrani.

He said that those who had vowed to introduce austerity were falling for worldly things, and setting new precedents of squandering precious little money.

Contrary to its election promises, the ANP leader pointed out, the MMA ministers were living in government accommodations and using more than one official vehicle.

He predicted that in time to come, the MMA would further expose itself for its internal contradiction, hypocrisy and political expediency.

The ANP leader urged the party workers to follow the principles of the late khudai khidmatgar leader, and spread his message to every nook and cranny of the province.
