LAHORE, Aug 2: The Co-operatives Task Force draft recommendations for amendments to the Cooperative Societies Act and Rules are ready for presentation in the Punjab Assembly for legislation after the approval of Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.

This was stated by Punjab Co-operatives Minister Col Malik Muhammad Anwar (retired) on Saturday. He was speaking at a meeting of Punjab Provincial Co-operatives Bank officials here.

He said that the amendments had been proposed after examining the working of the cooperative societies in the agriculture and housing sectors.

He said that the government had decided to introduce attractive investment schemes in the bank which had helped restore the confidence of the people in the cooperatives by its exemplary performance.

He said that the government would issue special identity cards to the members of the agricultural cooperative societies and start training courses for the bank employees.
