KARACHI, Aug 1: Maj Gen Mohammad Ashraf Saleem, GOC-4, Army Air Defence Division, on Friday asked the KESC engineers to improve power supply situation in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, block 3, 4 and 4-A.
He issued these directives during a visit to the rain-affected areas in the city, to review the ongoing fault removal work.
He appreciated the workers engaged in rehabilitation of the electricity poles, which had been uprooted because of the accumulated rainwater.
Out of the 50 affected consumers, the supply was restored to 30, on ‘fast track’ to normalize supply to the area.
Gen Ashraf said that pace of the work should be maintained and the complaints must be speedily attended to, to the satisfaction of the consumers.
Meanwhile, the general has requested the electricity consumers to show patience during such extraordinary situations and cooperate with the KESC staff.
“While they try to repair the faults, violence, damage to repair vans and hostility against complaint receiving workers only demoralizes the workforce engaged in the task of rehabilitating the power supply system and delays the restoration of electricity”.
He also appreciated the Crises Control Organization for its speedy mobilization of resources while tackling emergencies.
Meanwhile, Brig Irfan Ali, chief of the Army Monitoring Teams (AMTs) working to assist the KESC, visited the Malir Maintenance & Complaint Centre to check the underground cable fault removal work in the Shah Faisal Colony.
Assuring the area people of consistent power supply, he said that for the time being the AMTs had suspended their anti-kunda and dues recovery operations in support of repair work in various city areas.
Brig Irfan informed the residents of the Shah Faisal Town that AMTs had already recommended establishing a separate operation centre for the locality, which, he hoped, would bring improvement in the power supply situation in the area.—APP
