BAGHDAD, July 31: A US soldier died in a landmine blast on Thursday and another was killed by a sniper as American troops stepped up raids around Iraq in a bid to net former president Saddam Hussein. A major clampdown, which has seen the arrests of more than 700 people in raids around the country since Monday, has so far failed to stop deadly attacks on US troops.—AFP
