ISLAMABAD, July 29: The Ambassador of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, Kim won Gyu on Tuesday called on the Senate chairman Mohammadmian Soomro in his chamber.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest were discussed. They also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation particularly exchange of parliamentary delegation regional and international issues.
Mr Soomro expressed the hope that during his tenure, the relations between the two countries would be further strengthened.
Referring to close friendly relations between the two countries, the Senate chairman said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with North Korea.
He further said that the similarity of views between Pakistan and North Korea on several important national and regional issues reinforces the friendly relations between the two countries.
The Senate chairman also informed the ambassador that after the establishment of Senate foreign relations committee, the parliamentary friendship group with North Korea will be revived.
The ambassador said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations both countries were enjoying excellent and close friendly relations.
He reiterated that North Korea was very keen to further solidify and strengthen its relations with Pakistan.
Mr Kim conveyed greetings from the Chairman of the Supreme Peoples assembly of DPR Korea to the Senate chairman, which were warmly reciprocated.
He also extended an invitation to the chairman to lead a parliamentary delegations to North Korea at a convenient time.—PPI
