LAHORE, July 27: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi on Sunday suspended the Medical Superintendent of Allama Iqbal DHQ Hospital, Sialkot, and a surgeon.

Dr Syed Muhammad Ferdaus, the MS, and surgeon Sajid Hussain have been accused of showing ‘grave negligence’ in treating one of the injured judges, Shaharyar Bukhari. The judge was among those who were critically wounded in the Sialkot jail shootout.

In his order, the CM said the doctors had shown extreme carelessness in attending the injured judge. Instead of arranging an ambulance, they sent him to Lahore in a private vehicle which did not have even oxygen facility.

The CM also ordered a department inquiry against them and directed the Punjab health department authorities to submit him a report at the earliest.— Reporter
