Pakistan to train Afghan force

ISLAMABAD, July 25: Pakistan will train personnel of Afghanistan’s border security agencies, a source in the interior ministry said on Friday.

The source said a decision in this respect was taken during the two-day visit of Afghan Interior Minister Ali Ahmed Jalali to Pakistan which ended on Thursday.

The two countries, he said, will also make efforts to control drug and human trafficking.

In this connection, the staff of law enforcement agencies of the two countries will carry out joint patrolling in the border areas, he added.

Pakistani experts will also train Afghan law enforcement agency personnel such as the members of the police force as well, the source said.

The source said as an outcome of the Afghan delegation’s visit, the two countries would draw up new agreements regarding border security in the near future.

He said groups of Pakistani instructors will be sent to the Afghanistan for training the border security personnel as well as the police force.
