KARACHI, July 25: Five ships carrying containers, crude oil and to load rice are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to delayed arrivals of foreign flag vessels. As a result, two ships, Hyundai Future and Kota Teraju were berthed to unload and load containers.

Sailing on the other hand was active as seven ships departed. They are: Bunga Masdua, Bunga Masempat, India Star, Oxford, Al-Mirqab, Saleh al-Deen and Banglar Kaloli, while Marine Trader, Hyundai Future, Irina-2, Norasia Punjab, Kota Teraju, Cape Byron and Mar Challenger are due to sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where a total tonnage of 65,041 tons comprising 15,637 tons of export cargo including 1,151 tons of rice and 49,404 tons of import cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Tasmin Spirit, Sorena, with crude oil, Izumo, with containers, Nava Eliza, with nitrophosphate and Khairpur to load 1,500 tons of rice.
