KARACHI: A Man dies while saving boys

KARACHI, July 21: A young man drowned in the Lyari river while saving two young boys who had fell into the swollen river in Pak Colony.

Police said that Jamil Ahmed, 24, jumped into the river to save the two young boy’s who had fallen into the river.

He managed to rescue the two young children, but could not swim to safety, police said.

Jamil’s body could not be recovered from the river after several attempts, police added.

A young housewife was killed by unidentified persons, her body was found from Surjani Town on late Sunday night.

Police said that initially, the body, found in a storm drain in sector 4-D, Surjani Town, could not be identified. On Monday morning, the four-day-old body of the victim was identified by her family, as Zarina Iqbal, 35, resident of Safoora Goth, Gulistan-i- Johar, the police said.

The woman, mother of five children, had gone missing on July 18. The police said that woman’s hands and legs were tied up and a piece of cloth was found inserted in her mouth.

DROWNS: Two persons, including a young boy, drowned in different parts of the city on Monday.

Police said that an unidentified boy fell into the Lyari River near the Teenhati Bridge.

Fire brigade sources said that despite repeated attempts, boy’s body could not be recovered from the river.
