RAWALPINDI, July 20: The tehsil municipal administration has chalked out a comprehensive plan for beautification of the city, including its rural areas, official sources told Dawn.

The plan envisages establishment of parks, recreation centres, playgrounds, motels, festival sites, business centres, agricultural activities as well as health and educational facilities.

Priority has been given to the home constituency of the tehsil Nazim, union council Dhamiyal, where a resort will be established at Misriot Dam area. The main features of the resort will be fishing and boating points, playland, fun house, two cafeterias and motels.

The Misriot Road will be reconstructed to facilitate access to the site, which will be named as Dinosaur Resort. The provincial government has promised to provide necessary funds through a grant for the project. The resort will be a source of income for the TMA.

The beautification plan also includes construction of a business development centre. It will be set up on the land owned by the TMA and in case suitable site is not available, the TMA will acquire land for the purpose. At least four exhibitions will be arranged at the centre every year.

A fully-fledged mobile dispensary is also part of the scheme. Despite the fact that health is the concern of the district government, the TMA will facilitate the rural population through the scheme. Young doctors will be given opportunities to serve the community.

Leasing of equipment facilities will be provided by the government and the tehsil, on its part, will provide all possible cooperation through mobile health services. The health cover will include provision of medicines, food, refreshment, first aid and treatment of seasonal diseases.

Another important feature of the project is establishment of an agriculture super market, in which the farming community will have all requirements under one roof — from seed to tractor.

The TMA also plans to arrange festivals, fairs and other events at different places. A public entertainment event has been planned to be organized at Dhamiyal in September. The show has been named as Dhamiyal Festival.

A TMA official said all these details had been sent to the Punjab government.
